day 12..

another day of hell with my shoes.. however all the 'sightseeing' of the internal of the aircraft made up for it.. today, we saw the jumbo aircraft boeing 744!! it's the plane that has two storeys...

me on a first class seat!! never in my life will be be able to fly on that seat man...

this is the business class seat...

now let's take a look at the difference between the first and business class seats..

and yes.. i got his name too!! FORSYTHE MURRAY DANIEL.. hehe.. so exciting!!

by the end of the day.. my feet was almost dying...

oh!! btw, i was at the arrival belt, when one of the pax came to me and said," thanks for the service on board." .. =>

day 11..

first day of OJT.. wow.. happening.. haha.. first day already i got to do departure duties.. but the shoes was hell..

departure duties was as easy as it seem to be.. it can get stressful when the time of the departure of the flight is nearing.. and your pax are still not in the boarding gate.. hmm.. gotta get used to it i guess.. =>

nevertheless.. today was a super enriching day.. i really saw a lot of things that i've never ever seen before.. cool..

day 10..

last day of training.. next week will be starting our shift work with our mentor le.. so excited and looking forward to it man..

today was a lot of walking.. it was like an excursion.. haha..

this place was so happening man.. we watched the whole process of the plane drving into the 'parking lot'.. and the pilot has to aim accurately lo.. like the wheels to the lines on the ground.. amazing.. then saw the arrowbridge connected to the doors of the plane..

and then, we illegally went into the aircraft!! haha.. cos we only got temp pass.. which only allow us to get access to area B and D.. but the arrowbridge and the aircraft is area C.. we were so sneaky la.. hehe.. then.. we went to the cockpit!! COOL!!!!

we spotted this screen that says.."waste tank status.".. haha.. so this is where they monitor the amount of waste that the pax release on the plane in the air.. haha..

yoyo.. we just touched down from HKG, sitting in the business class.. haha.. like real ah.

amanda and i at the waiting area behind the departure gate.. we spotted a 'suspicious pax' who kept looking at us.. haha.. then there were many 'trans' as it was a flight to bangkok.. haha.. then at the very last min, there was this pax who lost her passport.. then it was already close to the departure time.. so the ramp co-ordinator had to run about.. and get the engineers to dig out her baggage and put the 'offloaded baggage' tag.. it was so crucial lo.. haha.. but then it was interesting to be able to observe the possible happenings at the departure area.. then when the plane left.. we saw this man still sitting at the waiting area.. all of us got a shock man.. thought this guy nv board the plane.. then he turn out to be one of the security.. phew..

next stop: SATS inflight catering centre 2..

all 10 of us.. plus the driver and joycelyn had to squeeze in this 'big' car.. haha... the front was the driver and joycelyn, then the middle part was amanda, kelly, lin and myself... and the back was the 6 small size ones.. then we said this is like the plane.. first class in front, business class in the middle, and the last one is economy class.. damn funny..

we went to tour around the place and saw the process of the meals being prepared and how they are transported to the aircraft.. but first, all of us had to wear.. THIS-->

we were in the refrigerator store.. and it was cold... haha.. look at our stiff smiles...

this is a cable car.. for the pushcarts you see the air-stewardess push on the plane.. it helps to transport these carts around the different areas of the building.. look at how advance technology is..

it was a very fruitful day.. and i saw auntie may.. the auntie i always see when i work at the SATS catering centre 1...

rushed over to conrad hotel for a meeting with mr cheong.. FBMA president.. only alan, junie, chai ping and myself was around.. and we were 'invited' to the OSCAR'S for a complimentary dinner.. haha... we were like joking about a free dinner before the meeting, then we really got a free dinner.. hehe.. and mr cheong said he would usually offer dinner after the meeting.. looks like we are in for a big treat this time!! worth the membership fee..

day 9..

today we had our hands-on practical test.. think i didn't do very well.. but nvm.. i'll learn all the way.. then there's the safety test.. oh man..

but then amanda and i got the chance to check in pax.. as in real pax.. yeah!! so exciting!! and it didn't appear to be as difficult as it sounded.. i'm beginning to enjoy more of this intership..

went for dinner at Waraku with my mom..

but at night was hell.. fell sick.. wasted my time resting... hmph..

day 8...

cramps not as bad as yesterday.. learnt about connecting flights and tagging of baggage.. my gosh.. there's so many scenarios and so many different approaches to these scenarios..

lunch with amanda.. the rest went to eat oily stuff.. yuck.. fattening lo.. amanda and i are so conscious that i myself find ourselves funny.. haha.. we walk up the stairs when people take the travellator.. people eat chocolates we eat fruits.. haha.. oh!! we found a difference.. she likes papaya and i like pineapple.. but then, she and i put the same theme on our handphone.. hehe..and we thought of the same food for lunch.. damn.

having our hands-on test tmr.. open book though.. but always better to know the info at your finger tips right.. gotta k my notes le.. (illegible ones..) tata.

day 7..

bad day.. couldn't understand the calculations for ski and golf for baggage... plus the different kind of cards that entitle them to more privileges.. man...

worse of all.. auntie came.. bad cramps.. plus super tight stockings.. killing me...

attempted to study.. but to no avail.. sigh..

day 6...

had a lot to learn about the different baggage systems.. the types of cards and tiers holders that is entitled to how many kg of baggage weight waivered.. well.. tough.. but it is something i enjoy..

nothing much to blog about today.. had lunch with my aunt who worked for China Airlines in the office.. and i realised that she used to work for CX as a cabin crew during the times when the uniform was the a-go-go looking one.. haha.. can't imagine it..

in the afternoon we went down to the counters to do our practise and hands-on training... i so sway swayly got no counter.. then had to use the first class counter that was closed.. then they had to open it.. then i had to share with amanda who was way faster than me.. then they ask me to go over to another counter.. then they had to open that one too... then i had to go back to amanda.. then finally i got a counter of my own.. haha.. by then.. most ppl probably had already finished their work when i was barely halfway through.. but through the hands-on practise, we really are able to absorb more than just looking at the theory..

then there was a korean group which consist of 2 unwelcome pax.. cos they smoked in the earlier flight to SIN from HKG, so they are kinda banned from our flight.. we expect them to make a big hoo haa over the matter but surprisingly it wasn't that big afterall.. and we "OT" for nothing.. haha.. no show to see.. but i manage to get myself involved in the checking in of the rest of the group but helping to tag the bags.. quite fun and exciting.. haha..

at night met up with ailing and nicholas for movie, "the banquet". slow movie.. thought-provoking ending... it was so last minute.. we only decided to meet up during lunch.. and i really enjoyed the get together session.. we really should have more of this outings man.. really..

fifth day at work..

learnt about the the different kind of visa and how to identify the different kind of visa.. and the which countries require visa..

morning was very technical and super theory base. we went through the check in systems and the procedures and all.. outside was raining, and the office was already cold.. so all of us were freezing and starving.. but thank god.. it's lunch time!!

lunch was at the CAAS club.. food was not too bad.. cosy place.. and there are gym, karaoke, tennis court.. and other facilities.. the toilet was quite cool also.. hhaha.. amanda and i took at picture at the locker area in the toilet..

afternoon was the fun part.. we went to the counters.. and learnt how to change the display on the LED screen.. then we went to observe the staff doing the check in.. and also took the opportunity to practise walking on the belt.. kinda getting a hang of it le!! haha.. the staff are so fast at the check in la!! their fingers are like moving so fast, i almost couldn't catch what they are pressing.. haha.. but the people are very nice to teach us..

then we also tried on our own.. of course. under the training mode.. => fun..

then there was the columbo flight check in.. the people really look like they have moved the whole mustafa to check in.. this guy came with his baggage and it was overweight.. then he got 4 of his friends.. trying to pull the weight and baggage to other friends.. haha.. what a commotion man.. no wonder they say if u can handle the columbo flight you can handle any other flight..

after work, amanda, samantha and i went to k-ster!! haha.. amanda and i wore knee length pants, but with our black stockings still on.. haha.. damn funny.. i think i found my twin in cathay.. and that's amanda!! haha.. she got a bruise on her right wrist caused by the handbag, and so do i.. the songs we wanted to sing for superstar audition (if we really went) was the same.. our life is like almost similar.. we wear the same size uniform.. we like jay chou.. we can telepathy.. we so coincidentally wore similar kind of top.. and bottom.. during k-ing, we realise that our singing voice was quite similiar.. that when we sing together i can't tell the difference.. and i think all these similarities are driving samantha crazy.. haha..

but we had fun!! glad that i'm enjoying myself.. and i have a feeling i will miss cathay after SIP.. can't wait for the real hands on to start next next week.. =>

fourth day of work..

another information overload day.

today we learnt about the different classes of the aircraft, the seating arrangement of the aircraft, check-in process, all about dangerous goods, learning how to identify the important information from an air ticket, lounge usage, and i think there's still more.. my god.. guess i have to do a lot of self learning as i didn't take ticketing and a lot of ticketing application is needed.. =<

had lunch at T2 staff canteen.. super long walk from our office.. to and fro.. i think it's about 45-50 mins?! haha..

wore the uniform to work for the first time.. got so many restrictions.. cannot lean against the wall, have to carry the jacket in a proper manner.. cannot slouch, must carry their handbag.. cannot eat on the bus, not sure if can listen to mp3 on the bus.. my god.. but i like the feeling of having the uniform on me.. i feel professional and make me feel confident of myself. =>

today spent too much time on lunch.. so didn't get a chance to go down to the counter for hands-on training..

we are gonna be given hush puppies shoes!! complimentary from the company!! come to think of it, i think we are really fortunate to be able to have such nice trainers and bosses, and a company that really takes care of our welfare..

during the training.. suddenly felt very down.. cos i got a lot of things cannot catch.. cos i think the rest of the people knows something about ticketing, so they know the terms and all.. so i was like kinda disappointed with my speed of learning.. almost wanted to give up learning.. but i won't!!

amanda and i super enthu about first time wearing uniform to work, that we meet at 7.30 for breakfast, then went to our locker room and started doing our make up and hair and uniform and stuff.. haha..

oh!! btw, did i mention that i've very happy to open my locker everytime? cos i pasted a JAY CHOU picture in my locker.. and he was in a squatting postion, just like how i will be when i open my locker.. haha.. he brightens up my day...

today helen shared a lot of interesting stories about passengers again.. very interesting to hear about the different kinds of people and situations that we will face when working..

tmr is the last day of work for this week!! yeah!! finally my legs can rest and get away from the heels.. haha.. and guess wad??!! amanda, samantha and i are going to k-ster tmr to sing our hearts out and enjoy a bit before we start our shift duties next next monday..

third day at work.. heard a lot of interesting experience from the trainers on the different kinds of passengers..

had a lot of fun talking to my colleagues about make up and demo how to bun hair..

nothing much happened today though.. we got our uniform though.. so we will be wearing our uniform to work tmr. so exciting.

after work, went shopping for makeup and undergarments for tmr.. haha.. bought over 50 bucks worth of goods man.. my god.. haven earn money spend money le..

reached home feeling tired and having tired feet, i hope to be able to rest well today for tmr's practical on job training.. however, i had to listen to my mom nag.. feeling down now.. and she actually said i'm the most stupid in the family.. man.. lucky i can keep my promise of not shedding a tear in front of her.. if not damn pai seh..

sad.

suppose to send jonathan and sylvie off this morning.. but then had to fetch my brother to sch.. so in the end, i only manage to reach the airport just in time for work..

and hell~~!! i unwillingly wore this shoe that was killing my feet after walking for a few steps.. and i had to tahan the pain all day. by the end of the day, i got 7 plasters on my leg. haha. PAIN!! the abrasion resulted in the peeling of the skin.

to make up for the pain, we had a welcome lunch complimentary from the company.. and we went to CRYSTAL JADE!! haha.. there was so much to eat.. and i had my honey dew sago!! all ten of us, plus the two trainers and our boss had lunch together.. and it sure made up for all the trouble, walking barefooted from the office to the restaurant.. haha..

after the sumptuous meal, we had a walk around the departure and arrival halls of T1. although i was literally dragging my feet.. we get to try walking on the moving belts.. haha.. it was quite fun.. then, one of this customer service staff played a joke on one of the first class passengers that was checking in.

he was a jap passenger, and he got a window seat but request for an aisle seat. then this staff told him that he has to pay 50 dollars for the change.. then he took it very serious and thought very carefully about it and ask if it was in sing dollars. the staff told him it is in US dollars.. then he thought about it for a while again.. then ask if he can pay in sing or HK dollars.. then the staff said " sure, it will be 500 HK dollars.. " then he looked flustered.. searching through this bag for the money then finally said " i think it's okie, i'll stick to the window seat". by then the staff was already like giggling.. then the staff said "i'm in a good mood today, so i'll let you have the aisle seat for free, and in addition, i'll leave an empty seat next to you for comfort.." then he was like so thankful.. haha.. in actual fact, there is no need to pay for the change of seats.. and the flight was not full so she was able to let him have that extra comfort.. damn funny.. and i think until now he still dunno we played a joke on him.. haha.. but i believe he's a regular ba.. =>

did i mention that we have a locker to ourself each? but mine is at the bottom.. and for a tall person like me, kinda inconvenient.. but nvm la.. intern mah.. got one locker to myself not bad le lo.. i intend to paste my jay chou pics.. a mirror.. and my future bf pic (when i get one).. haha..

one more thing.. AILING MSGED ME FROM THAILAND TODAY!! i was so shocked and surprised and happy to hear from her!! she said she disn't get to try river rafting cos of the current.. but that's also a good thing.. one thing less for me to worry about.. => so nice to hear from her.. i'm so touched...

first day at work..

reached airport at 6am to send the OSIP people and Ailing off. in the end, ailing and i were early and went to have mac for breakfast. pam and i hugged, and got emotional..

then came the exciting part.. ailing called to say she's going in soon, when we were still at T2 sending pam.. so ming, karin, mich and i ran all the way to the skytrain.. then while running, called her to tell her to wait for us.. once we reached T1, ming started running first.. then we saw Ailing's mum walking towards us.. so we ran past them, despite her shouting to me "Ailing zou le!!" haha.. i had something to pass to her.. and when we reached the gate.. we couldn't see her.. i was so sad.. really so so sad.. she just left.. without hugging me.. without taking my gift.. sad.. ming was like.. "ailing!! ni wei shen me yao zou..."

first time i ran around the airport chasing after people who are flying off.. so drama right.. but for Ailing.. i thought it was worth the run.. =>

because, in the end, gayna accompanied her back to the custom area.. and i managed to persuade one of the passengers that was going in to pass the gift to her.. yeah!! although we didn't get to hug.. but at least i know she's received my sincerity..

and it was very nice of her to msg us when she's on the plane.. telling us she got a window seat!! so lucky of her..

then, we received a call from pam.. saying she's going into the transit soon.. omg.. almost immediately, all four of us started running back to T2, and this time.. i took off my heels.. (pain!) i know, image.. but at that moment.. who cares!! when we reach the gate.. we didn't get her still.. damn.. but at least i've already passed to her the things i have for her.. yeah..

after that eventful morning.. i finally get to settle down before i start work at T1. it was a long walk to the office.. and then i realise that it is actually located between T1 and T2.. it was almost like a maze.. if we are going to be late.. we will definitely die finding the place!! Alison cannot even remember which direction to go after coming out of the toilet back to the room!! haha..

we had uniform fitting today.. and i thought it was quite fun.. there were 5 from ngee ann poly.. and 5 from TP.. all of us were like fussing over the length of the blouse.. the tightness of the skirt.. and the size of the jacket.. haha.. after changing i think more than 10 times.. i finally settled on the size that suits me best.. and that explains the messy hair.. haha..

there was a problem of information overload today.. we had our own locker.. and we are going to get our uniforms from HK, new shoes, 18 pairs of black stockings, and a bag that looks like the kind of bag that SIA stewardess uses.. haha.. plus the uniform, i think other people might think we really are cabin crew of CX!! haha.. yeah right.. but at least there's the self-confidence right.. before that, amanda and i make a pact to go on a diet first.. haha.. the uniform is motivating us to do so.. hehe..

then we got our schedule for the week of 25th.. my off day will be on sat and sun (so heng right), and i got 2 morning shifts.. that starts at 5.30am. but lucky got transport.. hehe..

after which, we got the regular flight no., arrival and departure time of CX flight.. i've memorised the departure flights and time.. what's left is the arrival part.. damn.. when i was briefed on that, i was like struggling to catch what the trainer was talking about lo.. cos i din take ticketing and everyone else did, my eyes were like trying to catch the numbers the trainer was saying and trying to ans the qns of the quiz.. my god.. but nvm.. i'll do my hw..

after a long wait, i finally manage to get hold of the pictures we took today at Waraku at Marina Square.

it's nice to have a gathering like this before our SIP.. people are leaving tmr.. sad.. but it's alright.. 5 months will pass very soon.. we shall meet up again after 5 months again ya? it's a pact.

the feeling during the dinner was very peculiar. everyone (almost) was talking like they are going to die.. sending me home for the last time.. having dinner together for the last time.. seeing each other for the last time.. but everyone (almost) forgot to add the phrase "before SIP" at the back.. haha.. that's quite funny.

but i enjoyed the dinner.. the company.. the food.. (i had food on my left, right and the front.. hehe) yap.. and i hope the rest of you did too..

before i go get my beauty sleep for my first day at work tmr, all the best to everyone..

i feel so.. urgh.. i cann't describe the feeling.

i want to do something for her before she leaves.. but i dunno what i can do. sad..

i'm skipping work tmr, for a gathering cum farewell dinner with some of the SA exco, and ailing, for the last time before SIP starts.. and before the OSIP people leave for the different countries.
